So this week I finished my 33 1/3 book proposal for the Beach Boys’ album ‘All Summer Long.’ I was trying to push the point that Pet Sounds and Smile have been done to death, and that there is so little interesting writing that covers their early music. It also had lots of nice colourful diagrams based on my analysis data. Most of this stuff came right out of my PhD in some way, but 9000 words and one impending rejection letter later, I’m pretty sure I have no chance of this being accepted. There were about 450 submissions for this round of proposals. Oh wells.
I’ve been practicing my stitches. I wish I had more time for doing nice, creative things. I find the repetitive nature of stitching things kind of calming and good for anxiety. Maybe when I rediscover what weekends are I can do some more of this stuff. I bought some super cute new patterns, one is the whole solar system, which I think would look pretty ace in hoops on the wall. In order of size. I like science crafts.
It’s horrible to contemplate a futureless future, if that isn’t too impossible. And so you just want to step out of it. To step out of the whole race, the whole business. The monstrosity of being alive overwhelms you.
